Our Services

Advenium is committed to serving you through high quality, effective group therapy. Our goal is to help you take small but consistent steps forward in your journey toward improved health and wellbeing. We treat children, adolescents, adults, and seniors with mild to moderate mental health concerns and behavioral challenges.

Advenium currently offers more than 30 specialized, alternative group therapies. Our groups are not only therapeutic and effective – they can also be fun! So, whether you’re looking for a high-intensity fitness class to blow off steam and reduce stress or like-minded peers to help you process past hurts, we have a group for you.

Led by experienced, qualified professionals in their respective specialties, many our groups are considered “alternative therapies” or “alternative therapy modalities.” In a nutshell, this means that our clinical staff engages with clients through an activity while employing techniques from psychological theory and providing you with practical ways to improve your mental health. While, our clients are not just sitting in a room together, talking and responding to the group leader’s questions, all of our groups incorporate active participation and skill development.

Dance-Assisted Therapy

  • Boro Park

This versatile form of therapy is founded on the idea that motion and emotion are intricately connected. The way you move your body impacts how you feel. Dance therapy facilitates improved physical and emotional health by using controlled, supervised movements, nonverbal cues, and dance. When you participate in this group, you will learn to integrate your whole self – your emotional, cognitive, physical and social dimensions. The psychotherapeutic use of dance is associated with stress reduction, mood management, and disease prevention. You won’t need a background in dance or any special ability to participate, either. This therapeutic intervention is for anyone ready to take the first step!

Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) Therapy

  • Boro Park

Dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) is a type of cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) that teaches people how to live in the moment, cope with stress in a healthy way, regulate emotions, and improve their relationships with others. Because for most, mind over matter still matters.

In a group setting, guitar-playing is an effective way to make nonverbal connection with peers, which creates a sense of camaraderie. Our therapists are trained to make guitar-assisted therapy accessible to students with a variety of physical and cognitive ability levels, making this group ideal for any age. (No previous guitar experience is required.)

Science has known for a long time that the foods we eat make a great difference in how we feel – physically and emotionally. But, ‘eating right,’ as you may have found, is more than a matter of diet. It’s also a matter of the mind. Emotional eating and facing setbacks along your health and wellness journey are very common challenges. You don’t have to work through them alone. The support of our qualified professionals in this nutrition-assisted therapy group will help you develop individualized eating plans tailored to your specific treatment goals and process the emotions that arise as you take steps towards a healthier you.

Voice/Singing-Assisted Therapy

  • Suffern

Singing has many therapeutic benefits, and Advenium’s group for voice-assisted therapy hits all the right notes. Singing helps the muscles relax, releasing the tightness and constriction that can arise with anxiety. Singing also triggers the release of the feel-good neurotransmitter, dopamine, which can help improve one’s mood.

In this group setting, the camaraderie helps individuals form deep connections with one another and promotes improved self-esteem and mood while increasing the sense of belonging. Our therapeutic voice instructors teach emotion regulation through deep-breathing skills and mindfulness exercises – all while singing! Some individuals may find their speaking abilities and confidence sharpened, too. Singing is the perfect way to get your mind and body in sync and in tune. (No previous voice instruction required).
